Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how TrySkies (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares your personal information when you use tryskies.com and all related services (the “Services”).
TrySkies is a flight-deal alert service. You tell us your home airport and the destinations you dream of; we watch fares on those routes and email you when a fare drops well below its typical price. We are not a booking platform — when you book, you do so with the airline or a third-party travel site, and we never see your payment details.
By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy. Questions or concerns? Contact us at hello@tryskies.com.
Summary of key points
- What we collect: your email address, sign-in data, and the travel preferences you give us (home airport, watched destinations, travel months, party size, price goals), plus standard technical logs.
- Sensitive data: we do not collect or process sensitive personal information.
- Tracking: we do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site trackers, and we do not sell your personal information.
- Sharing: only with the service providers that run the platform (hosting, database and authentication, email delivery) — never with third parties for their own marketing.
- Your rights:depending on where you live, you can access, correct, delete, or port your data — email us and we’ll do it.
1. What information do we collect?
Information you provide. When you join the waitlist, create an account, or use the Services, we collect:
- Email address
- Name and profile picture, if you sign in with Google
- Travel preferences: your home airport, the destinations you watch, when you’d travel, your usual party size, and any price goals you set
- Anything you send us in support or feedback messages
Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard technical logs when you use the Services: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use these to keep the Services secure and working — not to profile you. We do not collect precise GPS location.
Payment data. The Services are currently free and we do not process payments. If we introduce a paid plan, payments will be handled by a dedicated payment processor (we will never store your card details ourselves), and we will update this policy first.
2. How do we use your information?
- To deliver the service itself: watching fares on your chosen routes and emailing you when a fare hits your goal — this is the product you signed up for.
- To create and maintain your account and authenticate you.
- To respond to your messages and send essential service communications.
- To maintain security and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To understand aggregate usage and improve the Services.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal bases for processing (EU/UK)
If you are in the EU or UK, we process your personal information under the GDPR on these bases: performance of a contract (providing the fare-watching service you asked for), consent (which you can withdraw at any time), legitimate interests (securing and improving the Services), and legal obligations.
4. Who do we share information with?
We share personal information only with service providers that operate the platform on our behalf, under contracts that limit what they may do with it:
- Supabase — database and authentication (your account and preferences live here)
- Vercel — website hosting and server logs
- Resend — delivers our emails (alerts, confirmations)
- Google — optional sign-in (Google OAuth); we receive your name, email, and profile picture, and nothing else
Your browser also loads some content directly from third parties when you use the app: destination photography (Unsplash, Pexels, Picsum) and map tiles (CARTO). Those providers see your IP address as part of serving that content, as with any website asset.
We may also share information if required by law, or as part of a business transfer (merger, acquisition, or sale). We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Fare data and booking links
To find deals, we query flight-data providers (such as Travelpayouts/Aviasales and Google Flights data services) with route information only — airport codes, dates, and currency. These queries never include your name, email, or any identifier tied to you.
When you click through to book a fare, you leave TrySkies and land on a third-party travel site (typically Aviasales). Those links are affiliate links— if you book, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Once you leave our site, the third party’s own privacy policy governs what they collect.
6. Cookies
We use only strictly necessary cookies: the session cookies that keep you signed in (set by our authentication provider, Supabase), plus a small amount of local browser storage for interface preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, tracking pixels, or any cross-site tracking. Because every cookie we set is required for the Services to function, there is no cookie-consent banner to manage — there is nothing optional to opt out of.
7. Email communications
Fare-drop alerts are the service — you receive them because you asked us to watch specific routes. You can stop them at any time by removing destinations from your watchlist or deleting your account. We also send essential service emails (such as sign-in links and account notices). If we ever send marketing beyond that, it will be with your consent and with a working unsubscribe link.
8. International data transfers
Our service providers store data in the European Economic Area and the United States. If your information is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
9. How long do we keep your information?
- Account data: for as long as you have an account. Delete your account (or ask us to) and we remove your personal information from our active systems.
- Waitlist emails: until we invite you and you create an account, or you ask to be removed.
- Fare history:the price data we record is route-level (e.g. “New York → Tokyo, $412 on this date”) and contains no personal information, so it may be kept indefinitely.
Where immediate deletion isn’t possible (for example, backup archives), we isolate the data from further use until it can be deleted.
10. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information — encrypted connections, access controls, and reputable infrastructure providers. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information
- Delete your personal information
- Restrict or object to our processing
- Receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@tryskies.com. We will respond in accordance with applicable law. If you are in the EU/UK and believe we are processing your information unlawfully, you may complain to your local data protection authority — in Sweden, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
12. US state privacy rights
If you are a resident of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or another US state with a comprehensive privacy law, you additionally have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access, correct, and delete it, to obtain a copy, to non-discrimination for exercising your rights, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling.
The categories we collect are: identifiers (name, email, IP address), internet activity (server logs), and preference data (your travel preferences). We have not sold or shared personal information with third parties for commercial purposes in the preceding twelve months, and we do not use your data for targeted advertising or profiling. To exercise your rights (or appeal a decision), email hello@tryskies.com; if an appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general.
13. Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Do-Not-Track
There is no uniform standard for Do-Not-Track browser signals, so we do not respond to them — though in practice we do not track you across other sites in the first place.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date above will change when we do. For material changes, we will post a prominent notice or email you.
